Contract Construction, Garvin Design Group, and HNTB joined Coastal Carolina University to break ground on a new Indoor Practice Facility project on Thursday, September 7.

Located at the intersection of University Boulevard and State Route 544 just south of Brooks Stadium, the new 90,000 sf Indoor Practice Facility is designed to accommodate multiple uses by various sports programs. The building will serve as the year-round training facility for the CCU football team and will feature:

  • A full-sized synthetic football field with high ceilings
  • Coaches’ tower
  • Training room
  • Video recording platforms

“It’s a privilege to continue working with CCU on their campus,” said Jon Michael Williamson, Garvin Design Group Architect.  “CCU has become a major player in athletics, and we’re honored to be able to deliver such a significant project working with our partner Contract Construction”.

The Indoor Practice Facility is CCU’s first Construction Manager At-Risk (CMR) project. Garvin Design Group, HNTB, and Contract Construction were selected for the project team last summer. The project is expected to be completed in the late summer of 2024.

“Contract Construction is excited to be a part of Coastal Carolina’s very first Construction Management at Risk Project,” said Greg Hughes, President of Contract Construction. “We are looking forward to working collaboratively with Garvin Design Group and Coastal Carolina to deliver a state-of-the-art facility that will surely take the Teal Nation to the next level.”
