Contract Construction, LS3P Architects, and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division officials joined together for a dedication ceremony and ribbon-cutting for SLED’s new full-service forensics services laboratory on April 27th. State leadership and law enforcement officials were also in attendance for the ceremony.
The new 117,672 sf state-of-the art facility has the latest equipment and technology to aid law enforcement as they provide forensic analysis, reporting, and testimony for law enforcement agencies, coroners, and judicial circuits across the state of South Carolina. The new facility, located on Broad River Road, has space for up to 180 employees, giving SLED the capacity to hire more scientists in the near future. The lab houses 12 departments, including DNA casework, trace evidence, toxicology, computer crimes, firearms, and a variety of other specialties.
