LUCY BECKHAM HIGH SCHOOL
| MOUNT PLEASANT, SC | Lucy Garrett Beckham High School is the second high school in Mount Pleasant and the first brand new 9-12 comprehensive public high school in Charleston County School District since Wando High School was built in 1972. The new 245,000 SF three-story facility sits on the 44 acre site of the former Wando High School and accommodates 1,500 students. Spaces in the new school include a gymnasium and auxiliary gymnasium, auditorium, cafeteria, classrooms, science laboratory space, and specialty lab spaces. Curriculum for the new school includes two certification programs housed in the specialty laboratory spaces. The facility also houses a ninth-grade academy. A high school regulation-sized track and field and two practice fields are located on site. The school will use a baseball field and tennis courts located across Whipple Road and a softball field located on another school site further down Mathis Ferry Road.
